Prayer and Praise Christian Network
About Us
Prayer & Praise Christian Network established January 2005
A 501(C)3 Non Denominational
Non-Profit Public Charity
Prayer and Praise Ministry began with local talents providing gospel music on the flat bed of a truck at Helen's Grill. Helen Carpenter; founder, ministered and fed those who came whether they had money or not. She began a Bible study in her home every Tuesday. Helen assumed the responsiblity of Richland County Chairman for the International Bible Reading Marathon and National Day of Prayer which she facilitated for over 10 years. She became the minister on record for the Senior Citizens Center for over 19 years, taking the Good News to three other nursing homes. Helen walked her talk. In October of 2002, she expanded her ministry to Prayer and Praise Outreach Ministry on Lee Lane in Mansfield, Ohio. She was joined by Susan Walker and Beverly Tanzarella who became her partners in the ministry. Helen's mission was to inspire, encourage and equip believers, using the streets, nursing homes, jails in every way possible to minister the Gospel and help what she would call the "down and outers". Helen touched the lives of thousands of people. She went home to be with the Lord in 2004. She had the biggest "going home" party I have ever seen.
Susan Walker received the Mantle for the ministry in November 2004 and founded "Prayer and Praise Christian Network, Inc." a 501 (C)3 non profit public charity. New beginnings, New Ministry, New Location! In May of 2005, God prompted Susan to take the ministry to the streets and urban areas. He was going to begin with wonders. Susan, knowing what signs and miracles meant, questioned the meaning of WONDERS. In the Hebrew Lexicon, "wonders" was listed as Mowpheth and pronounced Mo'Faith. With Mo Faith and $28.00 in the bank, along with lot of determination, Susan scheduled the first street meeting for the city at the Central Park Gazebo. She canvassed local merchants to donate food and drink. Several local talents volunteered to sing with back up tapes and cd's. With the assistance of Steve Hopkins who had faithfully spear-headed the music for many years in the past, they had a very successful outreach on the square. The Gazebo was reserved on the second Tuesday of every month from June through October. In November of 2005 they were graciously given the use of the facility of the First United Methodist Church to feed the homeless and less fortunate. This was the beginning of the annual Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners and winter feeding programs. The ministry has grown immensely with a full worship and ministry team, serving both adults and children.
Promoting unity in the body of believers, the ministry works like a well oiled wheel, as volunteers come together to serve the less fortunate by stepping up to the plate and answering the call. Laying aside any differences of opinion or theology, they work hand-in-hand sharing their love and offering long hours of work in preparation and set-up. We are a coalition; made up of former Mennonites to Messianic Jews, Baptists, Catholics, Nazarenes and First United Methodist to name just a few. Many more than 25 denominations work fervently together preparing meals, serving people, distributing clothing, blankets, hats, gloves, medicines (non-prescription), toiletries and a variety of many other necessities.
